Tournament Details

 
Info The traditional Swiss tournament will be held in the attractive spa town of Bad Homburg with a prize fund of more than 4,500 €.
Date May 29th to June 2nd, 2013.
Venue Bürgerhaus Kirdorf, Stedter Weg 40, 61350 Bad Homburg vor der Höhe (Link to Google Maps).

The venue is located close natural Park of Bad Homburg and it is about 2 km to the pedestrian zone of the city of Bad Homburg.

Participants Group A: The tournament is open to all chess players.
Group B: Only for players with a tournament rating (= greater of national rating or ELO, if available) up to 2000.

The admission to start in group B is based on the rating lists by Fide and DSB respectively, available to the public by May 22nd, 2013.

The total number of participants will be limited to exact 224. This gurantees, that every board gets his own table.

Early registration is highly recommended.

Mode of Tournaments Both tournaments: 7 rounds according to Swiss System, ELO and DWZ rated (ELO with reservation).

1st tiebreak is individual cumulative score, 2nd tiebreak is Buchholz

Time Control 90 minutes for the first 40 moves, then 30 minutes for the rest of the game. Starting with the first move 30 seconds of increment will be added after each move.

All boards are equipped with DGT XL digital clocks and wooden pieces.

Deadline Wednesday, May 29th, 2013 at 6:00 pm

The on-site registration will be closed on time!

Registered players who have paid their entry fee until May 22nd, 2013 and are marked in the registration lists need not register in the tournament room and will be drawn by lot for the first round in any case.

Players who did not pay in time, have to pay on-site until 6:00 pm (on time). In this case the chronological order of on-site registration decides for the right of participation.

The closing ceremony is scheduled for 4:45 pm.

The waiting period is one hour. Any player who doesn't arrive at the chess board within 60 minutes after the scheduled start loses the game and will be disregarded in the following rounds until he gives an explanation.

Probably, EuroChess.de will present an International chess sales cart at this day.

Entry fee Paid on or before May 22nd, 2013: for adults 40 €, for juniors (born 1995 oder later) 25 €.

After this date or on the on-site registration 50 € or 30 € respectively.

GM und IM are free, FM and women pay half of the rates indicated above. No other benefits are granted.

In case of withdrawal before the start of the tournament, 10 € of the entry fee are withheld.

Rating Prizes For both groups at least two rating sections will be defined.

Prizes: 80 €, 60 €, 40 € each.

Special prizes For both groups special prizes are granted for the best juniors (born 1995 or later) and the best seniors (born 1953 or earlier, women 1958 or earlier):

Prizes: 80 €, 60 €, 40 € each.

These prizes are paid only if the corresponding group is composed of at least 6 participants.

Team Prizes Team awards for teams of 4, composed of the best four players of a club, regardless of, whether they play in group A or B

Prizes: 80 €, 60 €, 40 €.

This prize is granted only if at least 6 clubs participate.

Drawing at closing ceremony All non prize-winning players attending the closing ceremony take part at the drawing of a subscription for Schach-Magazin 64.
Payout Rules Prizes are guaranteed with at least 150 paying participants

The prizes will be split according to the Hort system. The number of prizes does not increase.

Rating and special prizes will be awarded after tiebreak. Double prizes are excluded, the higher prize is paid and the lower one falls to the next player. Decisions of the Tournament Director are final.

Tiebreak for Team awards is the cumulative tiebreak. Always the best 4 players of a club are counted. In connection with these awards double prizes for individual players are possible. Only one team per club is eligible for prizes.
